The Cross and The Cosmos had several starts, all at the same time. The first start was when Jeff Gerke was at several conventions. While there, he was constanly being barraged with questions concerning the idea of an outlet for good short fiction. Well, there are several out there, but not enough. No where near enough.
At the same time, yours truly, Glyn Shull, was wondering if a short story e-zine would be possible. So I prayed about it, prayed some more, and talked to the misses. She liked the idea, I liked the idea, but there was one more place I had to check.
John Turney, my partner in this enterprise, sent Jeff an e-mail concerning a world where everyone could write. A free place for authors to explore their talent within a structured world and a place to publish those explorations. Jeff liked the idea a great deal, but you try being Jeff and trying to do a project of this magnitude. It just wasn't possible.
My brains were boiling trying to keep this idea I had in my head. I had to tell someone, so I made a post in the Admin area of the Anomaly. I expected my idea to be shot down, almost wanted it to. Once safely shot down, I could find other projects. Instead, Jeff comes back with a "That's a great idea!" I was floored. I think I may have run around the room hooting and hollering, but I don't recall. Shortly afterwards, Jeff sent me John's e-mail.
Before long, we were brainstorming. The first products of said brain storm are the twin universes to play in. While we hope others will use these worlds, they are certainly not required. So we talked and talked and what you se here is the result! AF is now online and ready to entertain the masses.
