The Triangle universe is our answer to Star Trek and Star Wars: it is a place for marvelous stories to happen, characters to grow, and worlds to conquer. However, it is just a starter world. Where we go from here is up to you, the author, and we'll add it here.
The Species
There are four known species within the universe. Each is unique in its own way and has a rich culture and history. The Ssstha are reptilians whose hearts are as cold as their blood. The Rrrowl are cat like, cunning and manipulative. The Jellyfish, as they are called, are enigmatic and erratic. The Terrans are a mammalian species known for their cleverness. All these species make up an integral part of the universe.
The typical Ssstha is dumped in the un-developed portion of one of their worlds to fend for itself immediately after birth. These younglings learn violence at an early age because of it, and are brought into civilization as young adults. There they are subjected to testing and sent to various schools to begin their new lives. Most go into the military as officers and enlisted. Others become researchers and craftsbeings. All are totally devoted to furthering their species, preferably by blood shed.
The Ssstha stands about seven feet tall and can vary in color from a bright red down to black. Though rare, there are some bright yellows and greens as well. Their long, thick tail tends to be poised behind them, as though ready to strike. It is a deadly offense to bump one their tail.
The attire of the Ssstha is spartan: a one piece suit with pockets and belts. Even their formal uniforms simply have awards attached to a regular suit. Those simple suits range in color to either compliment the skin color of the wearer, for civilians, or to show the branch of service of military.
An average Rrrowl family consists of multiple adults, usually four or more, and a gaggle of kittens shared between them. Teaching the young is considered one of the principle duties of all adults, and it is not uncommon for an adult to have an older kit following along behind them. Whenever the kit reached adulthood, he or she is typically married into another family; although, it's not uncommon for them to go solo for a time.
The Rrrowl are feline in shape, covered in soft fur that can come in a full variety of patterns from stripes to solid shapes. The average height of a Rrrowl is five and a half feet. Their tails are short, maybe two or three feet long depending on the individual's height.
The Rrrowl like to wear loose fitting, flowing garments that cool as much as they warm and conceal. Often their tails stay wrapped around their waists, allowing their clothing to conceal it. Their military uniforms tend to be fancy, covered in filigree, ribbons, and medals, but they are as functional as they are attractive.
The so called "Jellyfish" are a mystery. Trade has been conducted ever since contact with them was made, yet nothing is known of their culture. Physically, they resemble Earth jellyfish. There is no noticeable brain and they are translucent. They require light gravity and methane to survive. Oxygen, or Earth normal gravity, are instant death to them. They can communicate via digital mean, ie texts and e-mails, but their e-mails make little to no sense and several must be traded back and forth before an idea or concept, much less a trade, can be brought across.
Terrans, or Humans, are a mammalian species. They stand at an average five foot six inches tall and have a wide variety of cultures and lifestyles. Though never a peaceful, united race, a loose Empire has been formed of the various planets and stations that represent Terran interests.
The Empire
The Terran Empire spans over three thousand systems, each with its own diverse culture and people. The capital of the Empire is Earth, which has grown until it is almost one large city. It works of off a system of alternate freedoms and oppressions. Religion is outlawed, but freedom of speech is assured, as long as it's not about religion.
Most of the governors and their cohorts are corrupt. This is proven by the rampant piracy to be found everywhere. Insurance rates have sky rocketed because of the increased risk. Many merchanters have armed their ships, many have turned to piracy themselves.
Seth Larkin, Lord Emperor of the Terran Empire, was born almost two hundred years ago. His childhood was spent being groomed for greatness and, when he was seventeen, he ascended the throne. Advanced medical technology has kept him alive this long, but no longer is he free to come and to go as he pleases. He is forced to remain on his throne, managing his Empire from cranial implants that give him direct control over his forces, when they're in reach.
The System
The Bermuda system is home to a wide variety of species, resources, and anomalies. Chief among these is the phenomena of the Triangle itself. Far out at the edge of the system, on the edge of all known space, resides a gaseous cloud of unknown matter. Analysis of the anomaly has failed. No known methods of detection or investigation have shown just what the stuff is. However, a certain percentage of the ships that go in don't come back out, about 3.2314542847%.
The system itself features a yellow star with a single, habitable planet. The planet, simply called Ion, and the massive asteroid belt surrounding the system are filled with lead. Thanks to modern technology, it is possible to shift any material into any other, making lead, the densest natural element, a very sought after commodity. This makes the Bermuda system a highly prestigious place to run business.
Ion has two large settlements used to support the massive space station in orbit. The first, located underneath the station, is Gadgre, a sprawling city founded by the Terran Empire. On the other side is Jerem, founded by a splinter sect of Humanity and is not officially tied to the Imperial Government.
Gadgre is run by an Imperial governor, Governor Michael Rand. Gov. Rand takes a hard stance on crime, especially piracy and religion. Jerem is like a thorn in his side, a constant annoyance and picture of his failure to keep them out. He is supported by an elected city council that has no little power other than to advise.
Jerem was founded by an obscure religion that calls itself "Christianity". These odd people believe that their "Savior", a carpenter named Jesus, was raised from the dead. He taught them all sorts of odd things that they still believe to this day. The Jeremites spend most of their time farming the old fashioned way. Oddly enough, their fresh produce sells very well on the station, causing the Jerem space port to be built.
Jerem is ruled by the council of twelve. Each of the twelve is elected to their position by a twelfth of the population each. Most of their lives are spent in what most of the universe would call poverty, but they seem happy enough.
The Anomaly
The Triangle Anomaly, or simply the Anomaly, was discovered about a hundred and fifty years ago. It wasn't considered unusual until several mining ships disappeared inside. Even that would not have been unusual until a JellyFish ship emerged a year later. No information was able to be obtained from them concerning where they had been or what they had been doing. Less than a year after that, the JellyFish showed up in force to study the phenomena themselves.
Now a large contingent of scientists study the anomaly using every means possible. Their main research station is located on Port Bermuda located in geosynchronous orbit above Gadgre. The lead scientist is Dr. Casinov.
The Station
Bermuda port is a station that contains half a million people of various races. It is a cylinder about ten miles long and two miles wide. Studded all about it are almost a thousand docking ports, each capable of extending out to meet an incoming ship. Inside, the outer ring is the docks and the inner rings hold markets, hotels, restaurants, and a wide variety of other shops and venues.
The governing of Bermuda Port is in the hands of the system governor: Markus Herald. Herald is known for his greed and corruption. It is his habit to allow the occasional pirate to make port at his station and sell its goods. The black market thrives within the confines of his domain. His second in command, the station head of security Jonathin Whyte, is the opposite.
Jonathin Whyte runs his security detail with an iron fist. Strict but fair, he is known for his attempts to bust up organized crime, the black market, and to catch pirates and thieves where possible. Herald lets him, but he always interferes whenever one of his interests is involved.
Persons of Interest
Jonathin Whyte:
Whyte is the security chief of Port Bermuda and second in command of the entire system. His is a small man, almost five foot four. His hair is a close buzz cut that tapers in the front. His small, beady eyes tend to bore into anyone he is questioning. He typically wears the black uniform of TerraSec with no other decorations.
Markus Herald:
Herald is the System Governor of the Bermuda system, duly appointed by the Lord Emperor, long may He reign. He stands at six foot even with broad shoulders and the finest muscles that money can buy. His dark, penetrating gaze hides his lack of creativity, but then again, he is a system governor. He always wears the most expensive suits tailored to highlight his purchased physique. His hair is steel gray; his eyes are a dark brown.
Herald is widely known for his corruption yet his fairness as well. As long as money isnt involved, Herald tries to be fair and impartial when dealing with his people. Of course, once the buck passes under the table, greed takes over and fairness goes out the airlock. His greed especially includes his dealing with pirates, who he allows to dock at Port Bermuda for a modest fee.
Dr. Joseph Casinov:
Dr. Casinov stands at five foot three and is typically wearing the standard white ship suit his kind often wear. He has white hair and sky blue eyes that mark him of of a crowd. His face only has two expressions: neutral and confused. Usually the latter is in effect. He has a team of seven who assist him in his research of the anomaly.
Charles Roshchoff:
Roshchoff is the governor of Gadgre. He stands at five foot eight and carries a lite paunch. He typically wears high end one-piece suits that have become popular in Gadgre. His zeal for power, influence, and money are only surpassed by his hatred of all things that come from Jerem.
Brother Jacob Smith:
Smith was born and raised on Jerem. In his early adulthood he rose to the rank of Elder, which is their equivelant of the governor. As Elder, he has led his people down the paths of prosperity and prayer. He has sandy blond hair and dark, dark green eyes, and he stands at just over six foot seven.
